MANILA – Citinickel Mines and Development Corp on Wednesday filed a graft complaint against Environment Secretary Gina Lopez.
The company questioned Lopez’s imposition of a P130-million performance bond and a trust fund equivalent to P2 million per hectare of distributed land.
“Where does she get her authority?” Citinickel lawyer Lorna Kapunan said.
Kapunan accused Lopez of violating the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act, the Anti-Red Tape Act, Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees.
Lopez defended the P2-million requirement before lawmakers on Tuesday, saying she wanted to help farmers in mining areas.
“I’m a very out of the box person,” she said.
